The Mickey Thompson Tires Tough Trucks® Challenge and Comp Cams NMRO Mud Drags presented by TCI Automotive wrapped up their 2008 season competition. Also, professionally-judged Show N' Shine awards were presented, and the Mickey Thompson Tires Burnouts entertained the crowd in the Indiana State Fair Grandstands.
In the Modified Division of the Mickey Thompson Tires Tough Trucks Challenge, Mark Noto of Buffalo, NY in his "Super Truck" pulled off an amazing 4th straight Fall 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals win beating season-long dominator Sonny Dohrmond of Davenport, IA in "After Burner". The other semi-finalists included Roger Cardot in "Bubba", and Adam Blankenhorn of Mt. Vernon, OH in "Mid Ohio Geo Thermo". Joining in the quarter-finals were: Gary McIver in "Bits N' Pieces", Dale Dennull in "Wild Stallion", Raymond Scoles in "Trail City", and Josh Fridley in "Rolling Thunder".
Racing in the 2008 Comp Cams NMRO Mud Drags Presented by TCI staged its final round of competition for the 2008 season.
In Class 6, Mark Osteen, of Daytona Beach, FL in "Dirty Bird" won with an e.t. of 1.971 seconds, edging out Steve Renaud of Hornepayne, ON in "Frantik", who scored a low e.t. of 1.984 seconds. Chuck Courty II of Apollo, PA, in "Mudmissle was third, ahead of Tim Wheelus of Jefferson, GA in "Simply Bad" in fourth by a scant .001 seconds.
In Class 5, Tim Wheelus in "Simply 1" posted a best e.t. of 2.044 seconds for the win. Jason Massie of Fraziers Bottom, WV in "Splash" was second with an e.t. of 2.088 seconds. Wheelus, in his other machine, "Simply 2" was third.
The Class 4 NMRO Mud Drags, Shawn Tootle of Reidsville, GA in "After Hours" had low e.t. for the win. Erik Klos of Fenton, MI in "The Judge" finished second, and Virgil Woodson of Sugargrove, OH in "Copenhagen Confussion" finished third.
In Class 3 of the Comp Cams NMRO Mud Drags Presented by TCI, Tommy Wallace of Wickliffe, KY, driving "Yo Mamma III" was the winner with a best e.t. of 2.641seconds. David Kurtz of Loudonville, ON in "The Gambler" finished second with an e.t. of 2.645. Kirk Miller of Matthews, NC in "The Grinch" tied Shawn Tootle in "After Hours" with matching e.t.'s of 2.658 seconds, but picked up third place overall due to his better reaction times.
In the pro-judged Show N' Shine competition, hundreds of participants entered in Street Zero, Modified, and Pro categories. The Grand Champion of the Street Zero Category was Tommy Ventilli of Mt. Carmel, PA for his 2001 Ford F250. The Modified Category Grand Champion was Charlie Herring of Bealeton, VA for is 1990 Ford F250. The Pro Category winner was Chris Pessinger of Covington, VA for his 1988 Toyota SR5.
Bob Noel of Battle Creek, MI, driving a 1990 Chevy 3500 won the Mickey Thompson Tires Burnout Competition at the Fall 4Wheel Drive Jamboree Nationals. Chris Eich of Demotte, IN finished second and Rob Miller of Ross, OH came in third.
