4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals 2008 Competition Underway

(INDIANAPOLIS) The O'Reilly Auto Parts Texas 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals Presented by Toyo Tires was staged at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas on April 19th and 20th, 2008. Competition was held at the event among five top Monster Trucks, the Mickey Thompson Tires Tough Trucks Challenge, the Texas Mud Bog, the inaugural Truck Rodeo, and in professionally-judged Show N' Shine competitive classes.

Mark Hall driving Raminator of Hall Brothers Racing from Champaign, Illinois dominated the Monster Truck Thunder Drags at the Texas 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals. Mark Hall won both of the Monster Truck Thunder Drag rounds on Saturday and won again in the final round on Sunday.

Jim Koehler of Columbus, MI driving Avenger added to his reputation as "Mr. Excitement" by winning the overall weekend freestyle competition.

In the Modified Division of the Mickey Thompson Tires Tough Trucks Challenge, Sonny Dohrmund of Davenport, IA and his '00 Ford named "After Burner" won the weekend and established his lead in the 2008 points championship. Sonny was quickest in both days' competition with a quick time of 15.1 seconds and edged out second place finisher Gary McIver of New Castle, IN driving a Dodge called "Bits N Pieces". Finishing third in the division was Josh Fridley of Middleton, IN at the
wheel of a Ford Tough Truck called "Meaner Than My Ex".

In the Stock Tough Truck Division of the Mickey Thompson Tires Tough Trucks Challenge, Fredricksburg, TX native Reagan Stehling driving a Jeep called "Sunshine" picked up the win with a weekend-best time of 20.87 seconds. Ricky Aguirre of Brady, TX came in second in a GMC Sonoma called "Mud Dog". Aaron Cox of Fredricksburg, TX finished third in his "Mud Dauber" Chevy. Aaron also was the winner of the Mickey Thompson Tires Burnout Contest at the Texas 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals. Mickey Thompson Tough Trucks Challenge events are sanctioned by the NMRO- National
Mud Racing Organization.

Mud Bog winners at the event were: Class 1- Randall Taylor, driving an '89 Jeep; Class 2- Romon Dovalina in a '01 Ford F150; Class 3- Mark French in a '94 Jeep; Class 4- Dustin Crissey in an '85 Ford Bronco; Class 5- Keith Reeves in a '79 Ford Bronco; and Class 6- Eric Brock in a '72 Ford F150.

The winner of the inaugural Truck Rodeo at the Texas 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals was Kathy Pooley driving a '99 Jeep Cherokee. Finishing second in the Truck Rodeo was Tommy Anderson in a '96 Ford F150. Third place in the Truck Rodeo went to Ricky Aguirre in a GMC Sonoma.

In the pro-judged Show N' Shine competition, the Grand Champion class winners were:
Street/Street Zero Category- Michael Okrinsky from Katy, TX for his Ford F-250; Modified Category- Celestino Soto, Jr. of Kingsbury, TX for his Ford F-100; and in the Pro Category- Larkin Riser of Bossier City, LA for his Chevy 2500.
