(INDIANAPOLIS) The 21st Annual Toyo Tires Summer 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals took over the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds in Bloomsburg, PA on Friday, July 11, through Sunday, July 13, 2008. A massive turnout of eleven monster trucks competed in side-by-side drag racing and freestyling.
The Mickey Thompson Tires Tough Trucks Challenge and Comp Cams NMRO Mud Drags presented by TCI Automotive also engaged in tight competition. Professionally-judged Show N' Shine competitive classes, and in the Mickey Thompson Tires Burnouts rounded out the competitive action for the event.
Hall Brothers Racing's Mark Hall driving Raminator came away from the Bloomsburg weekend with the overall season Monster Truck Thunder Drags points lead moving ahead of teammate Geremie Dishman in Rammunition. Dan Runte in Bigfoot was the top points-getter for the weekend winning two rounds and making the finals in another. Bigfoot was advanced to the finals of one round when Raminator was not able to present at the line due to a mechanical problem suffered in that round's semi-finals. Other monster trucks making one of the four final rounds included Dishman in Rammunition, John Seasock from nearby Frackville, PA in Batman, and Chad Tingler in Grave Digger.
Spike, which was driven by Steve Koehler remains in third place in season points ahead of teammate Jim Koehler in Avenger. Other monster trucks competing were Iron Warrior, driven by Trey Meyers; Black Stallion, driven by Mike Vaters; Instigator, driven by Lionel Easler; and Monster Mutt, driven by Frackville, PA's Alex Blackwell.
In the Modified Division of the Mickey Thompson Tires Tough Trucks Challenge, Jeff Dedick in "Autumn Woods Racing" was the winner for the weekend, finishing ahead of season points leader Sonny Dohrmund in "After Burner" in the finals. The other semi-final competitors were Ken Petersen in "Intimidator" and Gerald Nichols in "Foy Toy".Dohrmund of Davenport, IA and his '00 Ford named "After Burner" will head into Indianapolis in September with a commanding lead in the 2008 points championship over Gary McIver in "Bits N Pieces". It is a very close race for second place in season points between McIver, Josh Fridley ("Rolling Thunder") in third place and Kenny Sulfridge ("GotMudd.com") in fourth.
Racing in the 2008 Comp Cams NMRO Mud Drags Presented by TCI staged its fourth round of competition for the 2008 season.
In Class 6, Tim Wheelus of Jefferson, GA driving "Simply 2" was the overall winner setting a new national record with a e.t. of 1.900 seconds. Mark Osteen, driving "Dirty Bird", finished close behind Wheelus for the weekend with a best e.t. of 1.948 seconds. Chuck Courty III in "Mud Missile" had the third quickest Class 6 e.t. at 1.961. In season points going into to the final round in Indianapolis in September, Tim Wheelus in "Simply 2" leads Osteen by 40.
In Class 5, Chuck Courty Jr. in "Mud Missile" was the winner with a best e.t. of 2.018 seconds. Tim Wheelus in "Simply 1" had the second-quick e.t. of 2.050 seconds. Gary Reddick in "Touch of Madness" came in third with a best e.t. of 2.062 seconds. Courty Jr. came out of the weekend with the top Class point total, but Wheelus remains in both first and second place in season points in "Simply 1" and "Simply 2" respectively. William Fling III remains in third place going into the Indianapolis round trailing Wheelus' second-place "2" by only 10 points in Class 5.
The Class 4 NMRO Mud Drags, Erik Klos in "The Judge" had the best e.t. for the weekend of 2.394. Cal Hoover in "Mudigian" was second-quick with an e.t. of 2.422. Third best e.t. went to Fred Kowalik in "Seriously Demented" at 2.442. For the season in Class 4, Brian Sears in "Mud Hopper" holds onto the lead going into the final round leading Brian Gillispie in "Anger Management" by 85 points. With his weekend win, Eric Klos moves into third place in Class 4 season points going into the Indianapolis round.
In Class 3 of the Comp Cams NMRO Mud Drags Presented by TCI, Justin Huff in "MUD GATOR" won with an e.t. of 2.646. Kirk Miller in "The Grinch" finished second and Brendan Kinsella in "Pure Fury" finished third. For the season in Class 3, Kirk Miller holds the lead followed by Dodd McDowell in "Thunderstruck" and Scott Schane in "Just Bring It".

Brent Moser won the Mickey Thompson Tires Burnout Competition at the Summer 4Wheel Drive Jamboree Nationals. Jim Otis finished second and Mike Kaz was third.
